Women have a keen sense of smell. Rather than smelling like your buddy's locker after beating his head into the ground at a flag football match, do yourself a favor and spritz yourself with some of the best-smelling cologne available. Believe me, she'll notice.
Although I can understand a slight awkward feeling as you trod through the makeup counters at your favorite department store to head to the Men's Fragrance counter, this is a definite must. To help you out a bit, I am going to go over each of the scents tnat I own (some by choice, some by gift) and try to break down & rate them on a scale of 1-10 where 1 is the worst and 10 is the best. I will also note the scents which I have had the most positive female reaction to.
I also asked the female from the following pic to look through my bundle of scents and pic out her favorites.

Please take a minute and read through this day's journal as I uncover some Metrosexual secrets. Please note, the scent descriptions have come from www.FragranceNet.com where I found them to be an accurate description.
1) L'eau D'Issey by Issey Miyake

CLASSIFICATION - refined
FRAGRANCE NOTES - citrus and spice combined with lower notes of musk, amber and woods.
RECOMMENDED USE - evening
[My rating: 10 - Female rating: 10] **THIS IS HOT
2) Mania by Armani

FRAGRANCE NOTES - cedar, mandarin and amber.
[My rating: 9.5 - Female rating: 10]
3) Black by Kenneth Cole

FRAGRANCE NOTES - a blend of mint and mandarin combined with masculine notes of incense, exotic woods and black suede
[My rating: 9.5 - Female rating: 9.5]
4) Romance by Ralph Lauren

CLASSIFICATION - refreshing
FRAGRANCE NOTES - warm and sexy citrus and lavender, with sweet spices and woods.
RECOMMENDED USE - daytime
[My rating: 9.7 - Female rating: 9.8]
5) Pleasures for men by Lauder

CLASSIFICATION - refreshing
FRAGRANCE NOTES - nectarine, greens, fresh air, ginger and woodsy notes.
RECOMMENDED USE - daytime
[My rating: 9 - Female rating: 8.5]
6) Acqua di Gio by Giorgio Armani

CLASSIFICATION - sharp
FRAGRANCE NOTES - citrus notes, rosemary spiciness, jasmine, hint of wood and ocean breezes.
RECOMMENDED USE - casual
[My rating: 8.5 - Female rating: 9.5]
7) Dark Blue by Hugo Boss

CLASSIFICATION - refreshing
FRAGRANCE NOTES - orange, oakmoss, sandalwood and patchouli.
RECOMMENDED USE - daytime
[My rating: 7 - Female rating: 7]
Jean Paul Gaultier by Jean Paul Gaultier

CLASSIFICATION - sharp
FRAGRANCE NOTES - warm fresh mint, lavender, orange blossom and woods.
RECOMMENDED USE - casual
[My rating: 8 - Female rating: varies (be careful with this one...) 4-8]
9) Dolce & Gabbana by Dolce & Gabbana

CLASSIFICATION - refined
FRAGRANCE NOTES - lemon, orange, lavender, sage, cedar and tobacco.
RECOMMENDED USE - evening
[My rating: 6.5 - Female rating: 8]
10) Happy for men by Clinique

CLASSIFICATION - refreshing
FRAGRANCE NOTES - citrusy lemon, mandarin, orange and grapefruit.
RECOMMENDED USE - daytime
[My rating: 7.5 - Female rating: 7.5]
11) Hugo by Hugo Boss

CLASSIFICATION - refreshing
FRAGRANCE NOTES - woods, fresh citrus and spicy leaves.
RECOMMENDED USE - daytime
[My rating: 7.5 - Female rating: 9]
12) 360 for men by Perry Ellis

CLASSIFICATION - refreshing
FRAGRANCE NOTES - fresh berries, tangerine, and pineapple. Accompanied by sage and jasmine herbs.
RECOMMENDED USE - daytime
[My rating: 8 - Female rating: 8]
13) Cool Water by Davidoff

CLASSIFICATION - refreshing
FRAGRANCE NOTES - lavender, jasmine, oakmoss, musk and sandalwood.
RECOMMENDED USE - daytime
[My rating: 5 - Female rating: 6]
14) Boss in Motion by Hugo Boss

CLASSIFICATION - refreshing
FRAGRANCE NOTES - basil flowers, dry pink pepper and musk.
RECOMMENDED USE - daytime
[My rating: 9.5 - Female rating: 9.5]
15) Modern by Banana Republic

FRAGRANCE NOTES - classic vetiver, black pepper, green leaf and warm woods
[My rating: 9.5 - Female rating: 9.5]
If you get a chance, give these guys a shot.. I would recommend going to a department store such as Macy*s and testing a few to rate them yourself. The only fragrance not found in the department store will be the Banana Republic, you will have to go to the store itself to purchase the cologne. These are currently on my shelf, so they (at one time or another) met my requirements.
Please note, when applying the scent of your choice, spritz into the air in front of your body and walk into the spray as it will be more evenly distributed over your body rather than giving yourself a puerto rican shower and spraying a buttload over all of your 2000 parts.
Be Kind. Be Careful. Be yourself.

I find that sticking with a single scent works better than having a large volume of things that you wear. Girls get used to you smelling like you, it makes them feel safe. So when you start smelling different all the time it unnerves them and makes them think that you can't be trusted. Speaking of trust... this is what I wear and it does wonders with the ladies.

SCENT - oriental, woody
CLASSIFICATION - refreshing
FRAGRANCE NOTES - fresh, natural rich woods that react to individual skin chemistry.
RECOMMENDED USE - daytime

Plus when you give women a sweater or something like that of yours to wear they say its smells like you. When it stops smellilng like you... they get sad and want more.

Andrew, I agree with you totally.
1) My original post is an informative one about a broad range of scents. Although I own each of those, I do not recommend anyone else do so. I'm special.
2) However, if you're REAL smooth, you can have a scent for each female in your life

Yeah but that would be hard to do if you are macking it to four a day.... Even with a shower that stuff isn't going to come off properly.

Again, I said not to apply it to your 2000 parts.
If you walk into the spray, you'll notice how it lovingly attaches to your clothing and not as much to your skin.
On the skin might last longer, but rip off your clothes and its gone.
If you stink nekkid, wash more thoroughly

Sometimes it just takes time to find the cologne that you find best suits you and the female(s) in your life.
My ratings and suggestions are above, however I urge you to try out your own fragrances and come to your own determinations about which one is the best extension of you.

Steve!
You've outdone yourself this time! This is probably the best Metrosexual Diary entry, yet, and quite possibly the best post in SuPz.orG history! I am going to take your advice, and go cologne shopping as soon as I finish picking a quality shaving cream.
I was wondering if maybe the next Metrosexual Diary entry can be about lip balm? Carmex? ChapStick (tm)? What do you think, Steve?
Thanks, and keep up the great work!

Steve, yesterday while at Macy's, I picked up the L'eau D'Issey by Issey Miyake.
I will use this thread as a sort of journal/log to detail it's effects on my day-to-day life.
Cheers to the RaiderNation!

So far the stuff has been pretty good. However, the scent can't make it all of the way through a work day. In fact, I don't think it makes it past lunch.
Pls advise.

James-
Can you please elaborate on your findings of the cologne wearing off so quickly? I notice that I myself cannot smell the cologne after a few hours, but I still notice reactions from others throughout the entire day. I'm not sure if its because you become accustomed to the scent or not, however, I suggest that you ask a few females if they smell cologne on you near the end of the day just to verify that the scent still exists.
Sincerly,
Steve

Keep on,
